Street Teams
The Bible teaches that serving others is in fact one of the ways we serve God! Jesus told us, “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39) and that when we do good things for people we are doing it to Jesus (Matthew 25:40). The world will become a better place when we give ourselves to selfless service. This is what it means to participate in God’s kingdom.
Street Teams is what we call going into the world. We’ve got a ton of ways for you to get involved. These are some of the projects we do on a regular basis.
This is the oldest homeless shelter in the Detroit area. They are faith-based, which means they approach ministry holistically; sharing Jesus with them as they recover their lives. This also means they rely completely on private funding, since sharing with Gospel exempts them from government funding. We partner with them regularly through food drives, clean-ups and the like.
AMERICAN HOUSE
We visit with some of the local retired living homes in our area every month. No experience necessary- all you need is to love people! We simply hang out, play board games, and often sing songs as a group. We also have the opportunity to pray and sing hymns together. You’ll enjoy it as much as they do! This is a great way to honor those who have gone before us in life.
ADOPT A ROAD
Twice a year we get out onto the streets of Troy to clean up the patch of road we adopted. 18 Mile (Long Lake) between Rochester-Crooks is ours, so if you ever spot something needing to be picked up, or would like to get involved in this project, please contact us!
